I think I’m a typical American in that I assume any financial activity by large institutions that I can't comprehend must be illegal and almost certainly is screwing me personally. Alas, this covers a lot of ground, as I can spend 20 minutes trying to calculate whether the sandwich shop’s coupon for a free sandwich if I buy another sandwich and a large drink and chips is a better deal than just buying two sandwiches by themselves.
