Lots of controversy about the Keystone pipeline’s proposed route through the Sandhills, but rumor has it a compromise is in the works that would retain the route but reduce the threat of an oil leak: Half the year, the 36-inch pipeline would carry oil from Canada to Texas, as planned; the other half, it would transport barbecue sauce the other direction, as our friends in Canada suffer from a terrible shortage of good ‘cue. Of course, the EPA’s gonna need to conduct extensive studies on the potential environmental impact of a barbecue leak into groundwater, so this could take another decade or so.
